Tips For Hail Safety

hailstones on grassHail has caused damages to our societies since we came into existence. It creates billions of dollars in property damages across the nation every year. Although nobody has died from it since the year 2000, injuries happen annually. You should always exercise caution if you think a hail storm might come on, so we’ve put together some tips for hail safety.

  • Always check out the weather report before going outside for long periods. Bad weather can often creep up on you.
  • While inside, keep clear of windows in case they shatter.
  • Find cover: traffic overpasses (not in the lanes), uncovered buildings, awnings, etc. Remember, though, thunderstorms usually come after hail, so get inside if you can.
  • If in your car, find a bridge or other covering to park under. Hail bigger than the size of a golf ball can cause serious damage to your vehicle. If you can’t find covering, put a blanket over all passengers in case the windshield shatters.

Keep these in mind and you shouldn’t experience any danger. If you have experienced hail recently, you need to have your roof inspected. Should it need repairs, DK Haney Roofing can help. To find out more, give us a call at (866) 379-4846.
